Titanic (1997) (25th anniversary)

I genuinely cannot tell you the last time I saw this movie from beginning to end. It has been so long since I've seen it that I straight-up forgot Jack got on the ship with a friend. Since it had been such a long time, I loved seeing actors I never knew were in the movie like Bill Paxton and Kathy Bates. Kathy Bates steals every scene she is in, and is a genuine treasure. I personally wish they would have had the option to see the movie in a non-3D format. I personally hate 3-D movies because after a while my brain makes most of the stuff seem 2-D anyway. The love story at the center of this is the Romeo and Juliet formula which works well. The characters were vibrant and mostly fleshed out. The villains seemed bad for the sake of being manly men who think they are above women. And of course, the true villain of the movie is the iceberg and overconfidence with a splash of bad luck. A lot of the stuff that is mentioned are real reasons the ship sank. But thinking the ship was unsinkable when it is still made of steel is a glaring oversight just to sell tickets. The movie tells a great story, it's emotional, it has humor, and it has drawings of French girls. Titanic is definitely a movie worth seeing in theatres and one of the must-see movies of all time. Up there with the Wizard of Oz and A New Hope. It is a cinematic masterpiece in its own right. They had the runtime match the actual time it took for the Titanic to sink for crying out loud. That is commitment.
