The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003)
This movie is basically an Avengers/Justice League of classic literature characters like Captain Nemo and Jekyll/Hyde. In a steampunk alternate past, a team is formed to prevent the great war in 1899. The concept is really cool, but the execution felt a little basic. There are a lot of one-liners and quips. The visual effects are very outdated despite coming out the same year of the visual masterpiece that is Return of the King. It is a fun popcorn flick but nothing more. It almost had a James Bond/Mission Impossible-type plot. Interesting concepts, but it still lacks that oomph to be special.
