They did a really awesome job with this one. Rather than the normal someone is possessed and they get it out, there was a mystery/thriller aspect to it. They had to solve who was summoning the demons for the ritual. It’s a race against the clock to prevent more death and save someone from the death penalty. This felt fresh while still being part of this larger universe. The franchise finally found its voice with the last couple of movies. I hope they continue the trend of innovating the possession drama to keep it fresh without losing itself. I definitely recommend this one. It helps to see the previous films, but not required for this one.
