The first Rocky movie is a classic in its own right. It's the story of a guy half-assing his way through a boxing career. He has to do a side hustle of roughing guys up for a loan shark to make ends meet. Despite being a brute, he has a genuine heart to him. Rocky cares about all the people around him. The movie even won an Academy Award for best picture. Everything about this movie is underdog sports drama at its finest. The best thing they did to Rocky’s character was make him a nobody and have him be motivated to be the best fighter he can be. He wants to be somebody and I think that is beautiful.
