Evil Dead: Army of Darkness (1992)
This film feels very disconnected from the other movies in the franchise. It has the book and monsters but it just doesn’t feel scary. It is one big Monty Python/Three Stooges movie with some horror things slapped on it. It is by no means terrible but it just feels awkward. Ash also seems way too overconfident. Whether you count the first movie or not, this trilogy takes place over the course of like 3 or 4 days max depending on how long he was in medieval times. He can’t go from a casual, laid-back guy to this badass, ladies-man hero. Just feels like a big jump in each movie. It still has similar cinematography and style at least. It rounds out the original story, but it won’t quench that horror tick like the previous entries. Decent, but not the best.
